A big wind is blowing here as the world leader in wind technology is coming to Singapore. Vestas is setting up a wind R&D centre here to support its Asia Pacific operations, and employing about 150 staff.

I don’t think this would result in Singapore having its own large scale wind turbines in the near future. Nevertheless, it would create more local expertise and interest in wind power in the long run. Hopefully we can then develop some wind system to suit our geographical constraints.

Vestas to invest S$500m over 10 years into wind R&D centre

In a significant development for Singapore’s alternative energy sector, Danish-based Vestas will invest S$500m over the next 10 years into a new wind R&D centre here.

Its move to Singapore will support and develop its Asia Pacific operations and grow its market share.
