I’m Eugene and I got involved with the environment after reading a book in 1994. The book was Save the Earth by Jonathon Porritt, which describes the environmental problems caused by humans and includes the wisdom of many people. Worried about the problems and inspired by the words, I told myself that I would devote my life to protect and improve the environment. If I can’t make it better, I will try to not make it worse.

I studied Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore to learn about using science and technology to solve environmental problems. I worked previously at the National Environment Agency, dealing with waste minimisation and recycling issues. Right now, I’m doing my masters research on soil remediation at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University.

I’m a volunteer with the Environmental Challenge Organisation and also a Youth Environment Envoy under the National Environment Agency.

Through this blog, I hope to share my thoughts on the environment based on what I’ve seen and read over the past 12 years.
